California Miniature
Schnauzer Rescue
—Rescued Dogs In New Homes 2017

California Miniature Schnauzer Rescue re-homed more than 100 Miniature Schnauzers and other dogs during 2016. In addition, we helped pull many more dogs for out of town rescues. Most of these were dogs who were about to be euthanized if the out of town rescues had not agreed to take them.

We thank our volunteers, our fosters, our donors, and our partner rescue groups. Without their wonderful help, many of those dogs would have died instead of enjoying their lives in great new homes.

Rescue Schnauzer Skittles

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Maddie

Skittles, our adorable, 1 year old, super friendly Schnauzer mix is now available for adoption. As his surgery date approached, it became apparent that his injuries were such that his rear leg couldn't be saved. The good news is that Skittles is running around on 3 legs with ease and no pain. Here's a short video https://youtu.be/XeRROcU0Cfc.

Skittles gets along splendidly with his 2 foster siblings, is learning to sit on command, doesn't pay much attention to the cat, and even figured out how to use the doggie door all by himself. He is very good about going to the door when he needs to potty, but of course he will need some reminding until he settles into his new home.

Skittles would love an adult home with someone who would love a little lap-loving furry friend to keep them company.

Skittles appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

Rescue Schnauzer Killian

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Killian Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Killian

Hi! My name is Killian. I’m a Miniature Schnauzer. I weigh about 20 lbs. I am about 6 years old. I’m taller than most Miniatures but smaller than a Standard.

My leg was broken. I ended up in a shelter, but a great rescue took me in. I’ve been living with my Foster Mom and lots of foster puppies coming and going all the time.

I’m pretty well socialized. I like my crate and go into it as soon as someone says it’s bedtime.

In my foster home, I play with all the dogs and puppies (77 lbs. to 5 lbs.). I love lying on the grass under the tree in the backyard, but my favorite place to lie is close to my human. I do pretty darn well on leash now. I know how the use the doggy door and have only had one mistake in the house (I’ve been here 2 months).

I know “sit” and if there’s a treat involved, you don’t even have to tell me to sit. I’m a little bit good at “stay” but not perfect. I’m quiet except when I see other dogs I don’t know, I get excited because I want to play with them.

I seem to be in good health. I am neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and tested heartworm negative.

Killian was adopted on August 29, 2017 by a gentleman from Sacramento who has owned several dogs before. Many thanks to Suzi Johnston for fostering Killian.

Swiffer is missing some hair, as she has some skin issues that are being treated. She is overweight and will need help losing her belly, which shouldn't be hard with good nutrition and exercise. She has lots of pep in her step and will make a good companion for a walk in the woods.

Swiffer was adopted in August 2017. Thanks to our friends at Peace of Mind Rescue for finding Swiffer her new home.

Rescue Lhasa Mix Archie

Photo of Rescue Lhasa Mix Archie Photo of Rescue Lhasa Mix Archie

We rescued Archie from the Riverside County shelter where he had arrived with a serious heart defect called PDA (patent ductus arteriosis)—a vein in the heart that allows much of the blood to be shunted around the circulatory system. It is supposed to close at birth, but did not in Archie's case. The solution is to close off the vein. It used to be done by open heart surgery. Now it is done by inserting a plug in a catheter which is inserted in a vein in the leg and then threaded up to the heart. The new technique is much less invasive, but no less expensive. Archie is the most expensive dog we have ever rescued! But he is a sweet boy and he was definitely worth saving.

Archie's surgery was done on April 26, 2017. It is recommended that he have another echocardiogram in about 3 months, but so far he seems to be doing great.

Archie is about 3 years old. He weighed 16 lbs at the shelter but was almost emaciated. A normal weight will probably be about 20 lbs.

Archie is quiet, but loves to cuddle and be petted. He is good with other dogs.

Archie appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Archie was adopted on July 25, 2017 by a family in northern California.

Photo of Rescue Terrier Opal Photo of Rescue Terrier Opal

We rescued Opal from the Orange County shelter with a broken femur. We think she is between 1 and 2 years old. She weighs about 25 lbs.

Opal's surgery was done on April 13, 2017. The leg is now fully healed.

Opal was not friendly when we got her when she was scared and in pain, but has morphed into a super friendly girl who loves to cuddle and to lick faces. She loves having other dogs as companions. She is still hesitant with strangers, but becomes very affectionate as soon as she gets to know someone.

Opal appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Opal was adopted on July 21, 2017 by a family in American Canyon. She joins their older larger dog who loved Opal at first sight.

Rescue Poodle Coco

Photo of Rescue Poodle Coco Photo of Rescue Poodle Coco

Coco ia an uber friendly apricot Miniature Poodle who was surrendered to us because his owners were moving to assisted living and could no longer keep him. Coco appears to be about 6 years old.

Coco loves people and gets along well with other dogs. He is full of energy and loves to play.

Coco appears to be in good health. He is neutered and current on vaccinations.

Coco was adopted about July 9, 2017 by a family from Seattle.

Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Humphrey Bogart (Bogie)

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Bogie Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Bogie

Humphrey Bogart (aka Bogie) will melt your heart. He is a 6-month-old, black and silver, purebred Miniature Schnauzer. Bogie weights about 9 lbs. He has natural ears and a cropped tail.

Bogie is an incredibly sweet, playful, and amazing little guy. He loves people and other dogs (we do not know about children or cats), and loves to play with toys. For the most part he is potted-trained, is good in a crate, and sleeps well. Bogie is still a baby and will need basic training (including walking on a leash, sit, stay, etc.).

Bogie was born with a condition called congenital hypothyroidism. This condition is very rare in dogs and can be deadly to puppies if not caught early and managed with thyroid medication. This condition decreases the metabolism so much that a dog will refuse to eat or drink and eventually wither away. Lucky for Bogie, his condition was caught early. It is managed with medication, and he's leading a very normal dog life.

Bogie's ideal forever family would be one that is truly ready for a puppy and care for his needs. Due to his condition, he requires a pill twice a day (medication runs about $10/month) and thyroid level tests (probably every 6-months or so). He does eat and drink on his own now, but does require a parent or parents to be diligent about making sure he is getting enough food and water daily as to not dehydrate. He is not neutered yet as the doctor wants him to be intact for a least 1 year to give him enough chance to grow as much as possible - though he will likely be on the smaller side. After that time, he must be neutered for his health and to eliminate the risk of him having puppies as congenital hypothyroidism is hereditary. We are just starting basic training (sit, stay, come, etc.), but his new family will need to continue this training. Bogie is microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Bogie was adopted by his fosters on July 1, 2017. He joins 2 Standard Schnauzers, and a senior Miniature named Lauren who Bogie's adopters previously adopted from CMSR.

Rescue Schnauzer Calvin

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Calvin Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Calvin

Calvin came to us from the Tijuana area where he had been found running loose.

Calvin is about 1 1/2 to 2 years old. He is about 15 1/2" at the shoulder, about half way between the typical sizes for Miniature and Standard Schnauzers.

Calvin is a very sweet dog who enjoys being with people and with other dogs.

Calvin appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Calvin was adopted on June 23, 2017 by a family from San Jose.

Rescue Schnauzer Serene

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Serene Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Serene

Serene came to us from the San Bernardino City shelter, complete with 3 one-day old puppies to whom she had given birth in the rain. We couldn't let Serene and the puppies stay in the shelter over the long weekend so we rushed to get them.

As of March 26, the puppies are 10 weeks old. Serene was a great mom who took fantastic care of her little brood. She weighs about 10 to 12 lbs.

Despite being a seriously great mom, Serene is just a puppy herself, probably less than a year old. She loves to run and to play with anyone willing to play with her, whether human or canine. You will not find a happier more friendly dog on earth. When we got her, Serene was a hairball. We thought she was likely a Schnauzer mix, but when we groomed her, we found a gorgeous Schnauzer inside all the hair.

Serene appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on her vaccinations.

Serene was adopted on June 24, 2017 by a lady from Morro Bay.

Rescue Schnoodle Alvin

Photo of Rescue Schnoodle Alvin Photo of Rescue Schnoodle Alvin

We rescued Alvin from the Long Beach shelter where he had arrived with a broken femur. He is about 4 years old and weighs about 12 1/2 lbs.

Alvin is effusively friendly. He loves to lie beside his human and cuddle, preferably which the human is patting or scratching him. He gets along well with other dogs but is showing some dominance effort with another male his own size.

Alvin's leg was repaired, and he had his final xrays on April 22, which showed that his leg was almost completely healed.

Alvin appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Alvin was adopted in late May 2017 by a family from Napa. They saw him at his foster's, being that the foster's sister and her family were the ones who adopted Alvin. Alvin will continue to have as a friend a sweet dog named Barry who Alvin's foster had earlier adopted from us.

Rescue Schnauzer Candy 4557

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Candy

We rescued Candy from the Palmdale shelter. Since she is a senior, we transferred her to our friends at Muttville in San Francisco who are among the most successuful in placing senior dogs in great new homes. Here's what Muttville says about Candy.

Candy has travelled all the way from LA to Muttville to meet you and find her forever home! We think that she is a Miniature Schnauzer/Westie mix. This beautiful senior gal was surrendered to the shelter by her former family after being their pet for more than five years. She has been through some big changes for such a small dog, and she deserves to feel safe and loved again. She is great on a leash and gets along super well with all the dogs and people she’s met at Muttville. Her expressive eyes show a lot of sweetness and curiosity – come and check them out for yourself! You might find yourself staring into the eyes of your new best friend!

We think that Candy is about 9 years young, and weighs about 21 pounds.

Here’s what her foster has to say about her:

Candy is sweet, relaxed, friendly & happy. She has low to medium energy level. She is great with other dogs. She is perfect with house-training, she will only go potty on grass. Candy loves all dog beds and likes to follow her human around. When I take her to the office, she will wander around and say hi to everyone. Everyone who meets her loves her.

See Candy in her video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0X51wRgDDg

Candy was adopted by her Muttville foster on May 21, 2017. Thanks very much to our friends at Muttville for finding Candy a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Bart 4636

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Bart Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Bart

We rescued Bart from the Bakersfield City shelter. He has natural ears and a docked tail. He weighs about 20 lbs.

Bart is a very handsome black and silver Miniature Schnauzer. The shelter estimated Bart's age at 11 but we and our vets think he is probably a couple of years younger than that.

Bart loves people and gets along well with other dogs.

Bart seems to be generally in good health for his age. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and has had a dental done.

Bart is now with our friends at Muttville in San Francisco. See Bart in his video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6k94fw1kyU&feature=youtu.be

Bart was adopted on May 20, 2017. Thanks very much to our friends at Muttville for finding Bart a great new home.

Rescue Schnoodle Poodle Mix Lacy

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Poodle Mix Lacy Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Poodle Mix Lacy

Lacy is a a sweet and intelligent female Miniature Schnauzer - Poodle mix. She is 6 years old and weighs about 15 lbs.

Lacy grew up in a loving family but her owners need to rehome her because they are having health problems.

Lacy is a great lap dog who loves to lay her little head in a warm lap. She still has the energy and exuberance of a young pup and desperately wants to find a family who will continue to love and pamper her.

Lacy is housebroken and good with most adults and older children. She may take some time to warm up to you but once she does, she is fiercely loyal and loving. She makes a great, albeit small, guard dog! She can be a bit standoffish and fearful of other dogs but is not aggressive.

Lacy is in good health. She is spayed and current on vaccinations.

Lacy was adopted on May 16, 2017 by a family from Calimesa, where she joins an 8 year old male Yorkie.

Rescue Schnauzer Fred

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Fred

Fred is a super nice Miniature Schnauzer who we rescued from Animal Friends of the Valley in Wildomar. He is about 6 years old and weighs about 20 lbs.

Fred was named Frederick Rudolf by the family who surrendered him to the shelter, but Fred seems to suit him better. Because Fred was an owner surrender, we know more about him than we do the dogs who come in as strays. His former family said he is good with people and other dogs, is housebroken, leash trained, and well behaved. We have seen nothing to contradict that assessment.

Fred looks a bit weird because he was matted when he came into the shelter and their groomer just shaved him down. His beard is starting to grow back but he doesn't have much yet. He will be a handsome boy in a few months when his beard and eyebrows have grown in and he is properly groomed.

Fred is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations. We also had his teeth cleaned, so they are now shiny white.

Fred was adopted on May 6, 2017 by a family from Long Beach. He will have a new girlfriend, a Miniature Schnauzer named Tori.

Rescue Schnauzer Thea 4556

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Olive Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Olive

Thea came to us from the Apple Valley shelter. She is a sweet quiet girl who is about 10 to 11 years old.

Thea has limited sight and limited hearing but does have some of both. She also has a mid-grade heart murmur. Thea has a small ulcer on one cornea, a small cataract in the other eye, and badly infected ears. We treatied her ears and her eye with the ulcer. We had Thea tested for dry eye and for glaucoma. The good news is that she does not suffer from either of those maladies.

Thea is friendly with people and gets along with other dogs.

Thea appears to be in good health apart from the problems described above. She is microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Thea was adopted on May 3, 2017. Thanks very much to our friends at Muttville in San Francisco for finding Thea a great new home.

Rescue Affenpinscher Mix Monkey

Photo of Rescue Affenpinscher Monkey Photo of Rescue Affenpinscher Monkey

Monkey was surrendered to us when her serviceman owner was transferred to Hawaii and could not take Monkey with him.

Monkey is 5-6 yrs. old and about 9 lbs. What all breeds she has in her is a mystery, but whatever they are one super cute munchkin was the result. Small in size, but big in personality. Monkey is a little doll who loves everyone and loves to play. Great leash skills. Enjoys her walks, especially if it means she gets to roll around in the grass. Rides really well in the car. And, house trained.

Monkey is looking for someone who has lap space available and doesn’t mind kisses. Ideally someone who will not leave her home alone for extended periods of time and who is good at giving belly rubs. Because of her petite size, Monkey needs a home with no young children (under 10).

Monkey did have some teeth removed during a recent dental, but luckily it didn’t include her cute little tusks that make her so uniquely her. She will require some grooming to keep her hair in good shape.

Monkey was adopted by a Portland, OR, family on 5/1/17. It was love at first sight for this family. They adore her and couldn't be happier that they get to be her furever family. This little Monkey has so much love to give and found the perfect family to give her all the love she can handle right back. Countless hours of snuggling in store for all. Thanks to our friends at Underdog Railroad Rescue in Portland, OR, for helping Monkey find her new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Rocky

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Rocky Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Rocky

Rocky was surrendered to us because his owners could no longer care for him. We knew Rocky because he had been getting groomed by the Nagels who are now fostering him. Rocky probably weighs about 18 lbs and is about 4 years old.

Rocky is a friendly little guy who loves being patted and gets along well with other dogs.

Rocky appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Rocky was adopted on April 20, 2017, by a family from Modesto who previously adopted Obi Wan Kenobe from us about 9 months ago. Obi and Rocky are quickly becoming best friends. Many thanks to our friends at Humane Society of Tuolumne County for fostering Rocky while he was in the Sonora area.

Rescue Schnauzer Owen

Photo of Rescue Dog Owen

Owen is a purebred Miniature Schnauzer, who we rescued from the Orange County shelter. He was about 10 to 11 years old when we rescued him and weighed about 16 lbs.

Owen is a very sweet dog who loves everyone, and he is pretty spry for his age. Owen's main problem is limited sight due to cataracts but he seems to have adjusted well and is a happy little guy. He gets along well with other dogs.

Owen is now 14 to 15 years old as of early 2017. He has settled in at his foster home in San Jose where he is much loved. His fosters love him dearly. They have decided to adopt Owen because they believe it would not be in his best interest to move him to a new home at this stage of his life. A big thank you to his fosters for caring for this super nice senior.

Rescue Schnauzer Lydia

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Lydia Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Lydia

Lydia came to us from the Ventura County shelter. Her owners were no longer able to keep Lydia because a neighbor kept teasing her while she was outside.

Lydia is on the small size, about 14 lbs. and is 4 years old. She has cropped ears and a docked tail.

Lydia is a bit shy but quickly warms up to strangers. She gets along well with other dogs.

Lydia appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Lydia was adopted on April 23, 2017 by a family from Long Beach who have a male Schnauzer, Rocky. Lydia and Rocky hit it off together during their first visit together.

Rescue Schnauzer Heidi

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Heidi Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Heidi

Gretchen, Heidi and Lutz are 9 year old Schnauzers who were surrrendered to us by a terminally ill gentleman whose wife had passed away a year earlier. In addition to the 3 Schnauzers, the couple owned 3 Scotties who went to Scottie Rescue at the same time that the Schnauzers came to us. Gretchen, Heidi and Lutz all have cropped ears and docked tails. We believe that they are littermates, but we do not know for sure. We do know they are 9 years old, however, as we have their vaccination records from when they were young puppies.

Needless to say, all three get along with other dogs. All three are friendly with people too, though we have not had them around young children.

Gretchen, Heidi and Lutz all appear to be in good health apart from badly needing dentals, which we are having done this week, after having had pre-surgery blood work done. All of them are spayed or neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Heidi was adopted on April 23, 2017. Thanks very much to our friends at Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue for helping find Heidi's new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Mix Falcor

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Mix Falcor Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Puppy Mix Falcor

Falcor's mom, Serene, came to us from the San Bernardino City shelter, complete with 3 one-day old puppies to whom she had given birth in the rain. We couldn't let Serene and the puppies stay in the shelter over the long weekend so we rushed to get them.

As of March 12, Falcor was 8 weeks old. Falcor is the largest of the puppies. He has a fluffy cream coat. He looks like his daddy may have been a polar bear. We are guestimating that Falcor will be about 20 lbs at maturity.

Falcor is a happy little puppy who loves Mom, and greets people and other dogs who walk by his pen.

Falcor appears to be in good health. He is current on his puppy vacciantions. We will have him microchipped before placement and will go out on a spay/neuter contract.

Falcor was adopted on April 21, 2017 by a family from Folsom. Thanks to our friends at Humane Society of Tuolumne County who helped find Falcor his new home.

Rescue Schnauzer / Terrier Mix Chato 4032

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Chato Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Chato

Chato sure is quite the cutie! This scruffy fella may seem a little shy when you first meet him, but we just think that’s due to all the recent transitions in his life. From being in a home, to a shelter, to here it's no wonder he’s a little nervous! But we’re sure with some time, patience and extra yummy treats, Chato will warm up and show his silly side.

Chato is the perfect combination of walking buddy and couch potato. Wherever you are is where he wants to be! Chato is a special senior boy that can’t wait to spend his golden years as your constant companion.

We think Chato is between 8–10 years young, weighing about 10 lbs.

Watch Chato on a walk!

Chato was adopted on April 9, 2017. Thanks very much to our friends at Muttville in San Francisco for finding Chato a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Piper

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Piper Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Piper

Piper came to us from the new Palmdale shelter. Piper was limping when we got hm, but fortunately just needed a little time for his leg to heal. He seems fine now. Piper appears to be about 2 years old and weighs about 12 lbs. Some of us at CMSR think he is a purebred Schnauzer. Others disagree. In any event, he is close enough to pass as a purebred Schnauzer.

Whatever Piper's parentage, there is no doubt that he is a happy, playful little guy. He has been bunking with Lupita since his leg healed, and the two of them have a ball playing together. Piper likes playing with people as much as he enjoys playing with other dogs.

Piper appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Piper was adopted on April 4, 2017 by a retired couple from Arcadia, who have had a Schnauzer before. Piper will have their full attention as he will be the only dog in the house. He will also occasionally get to play with their daughter's Schnauzer.

Rescue Schnauzer Robben

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Robben Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Robben

Robben is 3 years old, having been born on May 25th, 2014. His family can no longer keep him because they moved to a place where it is difficult to keep him.

Robben is very loyal, loving and super smart. He enjoys snuggling and cuddling.

Robben gets along with other dogs but he is a natural born leader and will try to impose his will regardless of size. Robben would probably be happiest in a home with no small children and no other dogs.

Robben is up to date on vaccinations but is not neutered or microchipped. As a rescue, we are prohibited from placing intact dogs without a spay/neuter agreement. Accordingly, an adopter will have to post a spay/neuter deposit, returnable upon proof of neutering.

Robben was adopted on April 2, 2017 by a couple from Windsor, CA. Robben will not be lonely as both work from home.

Rescue Schnauzer Mix Dash

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Dash Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Mix Dash

Dash is a lovable 2 year old Mini Schnauzer mix who approaches life with gusto. Dash was rescued from the Stanislaus County Animal Shelter with a nasty wound in his leg. This fun-loving 2 year old is now healed and ready to find a new, forever home.

Dash loves to play ball and will keep chasing the ball until your arm gets tired, and loves to carry around his toys. If you are looking for pint sized (21 pounds) canine companion with smarts and energy to do dog sports like agility, or be your hiking or jogging buddy, Dash is ready to meet you.

Dash gets along with other dogs. He sleeps quietly in a crate at night in the bedroom he shares with his foster family and 3 other dogs, and is beginning to learn the skills of house training. Dash is a good traveler in a car and rides quietly in his crate. He has already learned to sit on command, and would love a family who wants to continue his education so he can reach his potential. He loves to be near and interact with people and would love to be part of an active family.

Dash is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and living with his foster family in Oakdale, CA.

Dash was adopted in mid-Frebruary by a family from Sacramento with 2 sons who adore Dash—and Dash adores them.

Pursuant to the recommendation of the cardiologist, we have put Lola on Enalapril and Pimobendan.

Lola was adopted on February 24, 2017 by a family from Glendale, where she joins two other small dogs about her age.

Rescue Schnauzer Bristol

Photo of Rescue Schnauzer Bristol

Berkeley and Bristol came to us from the Sand Diego County shelter at Bonita. Both had been abandoned in the shelter's parking lot on the same day but separately. However, the shelter believes both were left by the same person since the dogs seemed to know each other.

Berkeley and Bristol both had severe cases of sarcoptic mange (scabies). Both have completed treatment and are now mite-free, but both look a little weird because they lost much of the hair on their faces. It will be a few months until the hair grows back and they are once again their handsome selves.

Bristol is about 1 year old. He weighed 18 lbs on intake.

Bristol is an extremely sweet dog who loves to lick faces and enjoys playing with other dogs. He is higher energy than Berkeley but that is a function of his still being a puppy. Berkeley and Bristol appear to be close friends, but both enjoy playing with other dogs as well.

Bristol appears to be in good health. He i, neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Thanks to our friends at Humane Society of Tuolumne County for helping find Bristol his new home. Bristol was adopted in late February 2017 by a family from Sonora.

Thanks to our friends at Humane Society of Tuolumne County for helping find Berkeley his new home. Berkeley was adopted in late February 2017 by a retired couple from Sacramento who have owned several prior Schnauzers.

Rescue Schnauzer Fritz 4446

This handsome Schnauzer boy is Fritz. He comes to Muttville from the Ramone Humane Society shelter in Southern California where he was found as a stray. Things are looking up for Fritz. He is safe and sound at Muttville waiting for his forever home.

Fritz is a sweet and mellow guy who needs a calmer home where he can spend his golden years. He is quiet, gentle, and sweet. He does great with dogs of all sizes and also loves people. Can you give Fritz his happy ending?

Fritz is 10 years young and weighs 17 pounds.

Fritz was adopted in mid-February 2017. Thanks very much to our friends at Muttville in San Francisco for finding Fritz a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Oxford

Oxford is a quiet super friendly Miniature Schnauzer who we rescued from the Orange shelter. The shelter diagnosed him as being infected with sarcoptic mange and began treating him for that. He has completed treatment and his hair is starting to grow back. Poor Oxford was emaciated when we got him, but he is a good eater. He should soon be back to his optimum weight. Oxford is about 20 lbs and is about 4 years old.

Oxford is a cute dog and will look even more handsome after his coat grows back in.

Oxford is on the quiet side so far. He is friendly with people and likes other dogs. He appears to be largely housebroken.

Oxford appears to be in good health. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Oxford was adopted on Feburary 16, 2017 by a family from San Francisco, where he will be the only canine in the household.

Rescue Schnauzer Reese

Reese came to us from the Riverside County shelter. She was frightened and difficult to handle when she first arrived at the shelter, but calmed down in the next couple of days and was a doll by the time we rescued her. The shelter estimated her age as 1, but she appears to be more like 6.

Reese seems to be friendly with people and likes other dogs, but does not seem to be good with cats. We have not had her around small children, so we do not know how she would be with toddlers.

Reese seems to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and current on vaccinations. We also had a dental done on her. Sadly, she lost several teeth as a result of her prior owner's neglect.

Reese was adopted on January 14, 2017 by a family from Bakersfield. She joins male Schnauzers Angus and Rufus. (Rufus was adopted from CMSR about 5 years ago.)

Rescue Schnauzer Lhasa Mix Paris

Paris and Simon, 7 year old Schnauzer / Lhasa mixes, were surrendered to us because their owner's health problems precluded her from continuing to care for them. Both are about 7 years old and both weigh about 15 lbs

We promised their owner that we would do our best to place Paris and Simon together. We thus prefer to place them together but will consider placing them separately if we cannot find a home for them together.

Simon is largely blind but can see well enough to avoid bumping into walls and to find his way through the door between the indoor and outdoor parts of their run. Paris can see fine.

Paris appears to be in good health. She is spayed, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Paris and Simon were adopted together on January 6, 2017 by a family from Camas, WA. Thanks to our friends at Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue for helping them find a great new home.

Rescue Schnauzer Oscar

Oscar was a stray who was found by a dog walker/pet sitter in Oakland sometime before Christmas.

Oscar is wonderfully sweet and good with dogs, cats and people

After efforts to find Oscar's owner failed, we had Oscar neutered, microchipped and vaccinated, and worked on finding him a new great home.

Oscar was adopted on January 2, 2017. Thanks very much to fosters Ryan and Nicole Birsdsall for helping find Oscar a great new home with a cool girlfriend, Roo. Roo is the Schnauzer on the left, and Oscar is on the right.
